Guild Wars is one of The 10 Best Moments in Gaming in 2012

In a previous article, I listed some of the less-than-stellar things to happen to the world of gaming in 2012. After all, it’s not every industry that releases a dancing Guild Wars 2 gold game where Darth Vader does a move called “the trash compactor.”

But as a glass-half-full kind of person (and it was full before I drank half of it), I can always see reasons to celebrate. And without looking too hard, I found the gaming industry had a lot to be proud of in 2012.

Guild Wars 2 is genuinely free to play

It’s the end of 2012, and the awards for Guild Wars 2 (GW2) are starting to roll in. But it’s not on this list because of its gorgeous graphics, fun combat, and addictive crafting system. It’s here because of the money, honey.

GW2 charged players an upfront one-time fee…and that’s it. No monthly charges, no broken “free to play” gameplay that hobbles gw2 gold players in an effort to make them pay. Guild Wars 2 update brings Wintersday celebrations & bug fixes

Arenanet has posted the official patch notes for the December 14, 2012 update. The update is in the main focused on the Wintersday Celebrations, an event that all fans can partake in over the next few weeks. Other parts of the update are bug-resolving and balance fine-tuning in the general game.

For those of you principally thinking about the celebrations, you could investigation the 'toymaker tour' below, were the break toymaker will spend a day in each of the five cities, and finish his tour with a two-week stay in Lion's Arch. The airship events will begin at 10 a.m. PST on December 15th & end January 3, 2013.

10 a.m. PST, Saturday, December 15th: Airship lands in The Grove for a 24-hour remain.
10 a.m. PST, Sunday, December 16th: Airship lands in Divinity's Reach for a 24-hour remain.
10 a.m. PST, Monday, December 17th: Airship lands in The Black Citadel for a 24-hour remain.
10 a.m. PST, Tuesday, December 18th: Airship lands in Hoelbrak for a 24-hour remain.
10 a.m. PST, Wednesday, December 19th: Airship lands in Rata Sum for a 24-hour stay.
10 a.m. PST, Thursday, December 20th: Airship lands in Lion's Arch, where it will remain until January third.

On the other hand that is just the beginning of this Wintersday fête. Together with Tixx and his wondrous workshop, there will also be new holiday content:
Lion's Arch, the Heart of the Mists, and the Home Map (Central Citadel) in WvW are decorated for the getaway.

Snowman building areas & present drops are obtainable global.
New crafting recipes are accessible.

PvP finishing moves & WvW siege weapon effects have already been added.
Bell choir & snowball fight activities are accessible in Lion's Arch, & can be accessed by means of an NPC near the snow globe.

Guild Wars 2 tops TIME's top ten games of 2012 list, although what is missing?

What I ended up getting exacty

Most noteable for me was the bag plus the the chest piece I could use for my alt. I just got the in game mail 3 hours ago. Sadly I didn't get a precursor. Although in chat folks were either trolling saying they did or it in a nut-shell take place. So with that stated what did you guys get? This only applies to people who missed out first time around.

FrodoFragins: Didn't know about this. logged in to get the bag and the shell. I'm not certain if the other stuff is usable but I'm glad. I gave up on the event after bugged npcs. I then returned too late sunday to kill the crab.

eyelolled:I was pretty active in the event, but missed out on the loot by way of RL and frustration. This gesture from Anet is quite noble, I are compelled to give them that.

i did get d/c right at the chest on the first final event and giving me only the ancient chest doesnt make me happy at all. well i'll just keep it unopen & show off later when nooone have .lol if i still splaying till that time ^ ^

Toxia:No one has got precursors from the chests in any of my guilds. I think they took that loot from them, since they are mass sending them. I myself got one, and i was there for the whole event & got my loot.

I also overflowed afterwards to one other server to try my luck on that chest, in spite of this i couldn't open it. Potentially that's why i got one.

I laugh since everybody bitched about not getting the chest, & are now bitching for the reason that they didnt get a precursor from it. No "Thanks anet for giving us the box you didnt must give us in the first place" or nothing xD

Guild Wars 2, the MMORPG, recently came out on the PC and everyone, including us, loved it. It’s also making its way over to Mac.

We recently had a chance to sit down and sit with the MMO’s game director, Colin Johanson. We asked him if we’ll be seeing a Linux port anytime soon, and he said that while the team has “talked about it”, they “won’t be working on it in the near future”.

“You know, it’s something that we check around every now and then,” Johanson said when we asked him if Linux users might ever get their hands on Guild Wars 2, “but there’s no one actively working on it right now, and we won’t be working on it in the near future. But we have talked about it, yes.”

When we asked if maybe a console port of the game was on the cards, he said that ArenaNet had once had a small team investigating the idea, but it was scrapped later.

“We had a small team that was investigating it at one time, and who knows what might happen someday,” he said to us. “But right now our focus is on making the Guild Wars 2 PC experience the greatest MMO we possibly can, and that’s pretty much what all of our research and all of our company time is going into.”
Well, he didn’t flat out deny any of the possibilities, but we do know that for the foreseeable future, Guild Wars 2 will only have the two PC and Mac versions for us to play through.

The new expansion for 'Guild Wars 2' is coming

No or three months have passed since the release of 'Guild Wars 2' and we have just around the corner the new downloadable content.
